Ecclesiastes Chapter 7.  “What did they say?”
There are four things that jumped out at me from this chapter but I'll focus on one of them.
Verse 21-22 says,
“Do not pay attention to every word people say, or you may hear your servant cursing you, for you know in your heart that many times you yourself have cursed others.”
When you're in a small group of people and they begin to bad mouth someone not there, no that when you're not there they're probably bad-mouthing you as well.
We have a sin nature and those who yield to their sin nature find joy out of bad-mouthing others.
– Sometimes it is done out of malice, hate and or anger.
– Sometimes it is done out of venting and if the truth be known they still do like you.
So we can't get caught up with what everyone is saying about us or we'll let our spirit become broken down and we become depressed. Our biggest job is to love God and love others. Let God be the judge of who we are. Let what God thinks about us be more important than what others think.
Granted, a wise person can learn from the words of others but we will destroy ourselves if we get caught up with every word that every person says about us.
CHALLENGE: Let the words you speak be uplifting of others vs. words that tear others down.  Be conscious of what is being said around you today and see if they build up or tear others down.  Ephesians 4:29 “Do not let any unwholesome word come out of your mouth but only what is helpful in building others up according their needs, that it may benefit those who hear it.”
