Ecclesiastes Chapter 2. Pleasures are Meaningless.

The wisest man who has ever lived said that all pleasures are meaningless. Everything on this Earth is temporary. So the more we try and find that which satisfies us the more we realize it's temporary. Nothing on this Earth will give us eternal pleasure.  We have to quit thinking temporary and start thinking eternal. What's eternal? The heavenly world is eternal. God created eternity which we experience after our temporary stay on Earth ends. There are two options: eternal heaven or eternal hell. How we handle ourselves during our temporary stay on Earth will determine where we spend eternity: Heaven – with the Lord or Hell – separated from the Lord.

Constant focus on the temporary things will never be taken with us. We will pass on from this Earth with nothing.
Constant focus on the eternal starts with a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. God's desire is a relationship with us through Jesus which results in eternal life.  If we die with Jesus during our temporary life, then we live with Jesus for eternity in heaven when we leave this earth.
God also has a purpose for our lives: to use us to build his kingdom, to reach lost souls. Doing that which promotes Christ in a lost and hurting world has eternal value.  Anything we own is not intended to be that which keeps our focus off of God, but rather, anything we own is to be a tool which can be used to help reach the lost for Jesus. For example:
Money. Money should be a tool that we let God use to help us reach the Lost which has eternal value.
Popularity. Popularity should be that which we let God use to help promote Jesus to the many who are drawn to us. It's not meant to be an opportunity to say “Everybody, look at me, Awesome Blair!”
Possessions. Possessions can also be a tool we let God use to help promote Jesus to others.
Challenge:
What are you chasing after? Temporary things or Eternal things? A life after temporary equals a life living for self and not God which equals eternity in hell separated from God forever.
A life after eternal things equals a life living for the Lord with Jesus and not self which equals spending eternity with God in heaven.
So let us surrender all to Jesus and let him use us and all we own for his glory WHILE being willing to give up anything that stands between us and the Lord.
