Proverbs chapter 14. You can accomplish more than you think!
Verse 4 makes an interesting comment:
“Where there is no oxen, the manger is empty; but from the strength of an ox comes abundant harvest.”
In the days of the Bible, oxen were used for harvest. No oxen meant no harvest. But even with one good oxen came an abundant harvest.
This made me think of a quote from Taylor Hansen, “To the world you may be one person, but to one person you may be the world.”
Mother Teresa devoted her life to helping the sick, the poor, and the needy. She was one person, or should I say one ox, that impacted many many lives.
This passage helps me realize that one person can make a difference. We have to rise above our insecurities, our lack of confidence, the lies that say we're not good enough or we're not talented enough. The truth is, we all have God-given gifts. We all have something God wants and desires to use to impact lives. Let's YIELD our hearts, lives and gifts to the Lord and allow Him to YIELD a harvest through us: Impacting a life… EVERY DAY! Let our focus be outward.
CHALLENGE: Jesus said in Matthew 9:37 that “the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few”. He wants to send people out into the harvest, so be aware of needs around you. Keep your ears open. People will say things that give you the clue they are hurting. Be the instrument God can use to help them or encourage them. You are valuable. You are important. You have worth. You have what it takes to impact a life, to yield a harvest!
