Proverbs Chapter 8. God's Wisdom vs. Worldly Wisdom.
This chapter proclaims wisdom as something that God created. Versus 22-29 speaks how God created wisdom and understanding before he created anything else in the world!
In reality, there are two types of wisdoms:
1) God's wisdom and 2) the World's wisdom.
We get to choose which one we want most.
1) God's wisdom brings power (Proverbs 8:14). It hates evil (vs 13). It loves righteousness and Justice (vs 20).
To grab hold of God's wisdom is to seek his truth and live by his ways. Galatians 5:22-23 makes it clear that those who live by the Spirit of God produce fruit such as love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.
2) To live by the world's wisdom is to exclude the Lord. They are wise only in their own eyes but they are really foolish. I Corinthians 3:18-19a says, “Let no man deceive himself. If anyone among you thinks that he is wise in this world, then let him become foolish [rejecting the world's wisdom] so that he may become wise [finally seeking God's ways] for the wisdom of this world is foolishness before God.”
Those who seek the world's wisdom will not live by the Spirit but by their flesh and Proverbs 8:36 says it brings death and Galatians 5:19-21 says the fruit that one bears is evil and those who live by it, will not inherit the kingdom of God. How can we crucify the desires of this world so that we are living by the desires of God? Is through a relationship with Christ. Once we choose Christ we crucify the desires of the flesh and then we will finally live by the Spirit of God which seeks His wisdom and His Truth to live by.
CHALLEGE: Whose wisdom are you seeking? God's or the worlds? What do you need to surrender to the Lord and give up? Do it today!
