Proverbs Chapter 7. Guard God's Word.
In verses 1-3 we are told to:
1) Keep God's word.
2) Store God's word up in your hearts.
3) Guard God's word so no one can take it away from you.
4) Bind God's word and engrave them on your heart so it never gets away.
Think of the individual who has something that's valuable to them.
– a hunter who loves his guns puts them in a gun safe that is locked up so no one can break in and steal them.
– a woman with her jewelry, has a jewelry box which she keeps hidden in a secret compartment so no one can find it and steal them.
If someone breaks into our house, we defend, guard, protect everything and everyone. How dare someone take what is ours away from us! How dare we let somebody violate us.
I wish we had the same mentality of thinking when it came to God's Word:
– We would guard it, protect it, defend it.
– We would fight to keep someone from stealing it from our hearts.
– We would see peer pressure to do evil as a thief coming to steal God's word from our hearts.
–  We would fight to keep God's word.
– We would not give into temptations because we know the temporary pleasure lead to sin or even spiritual death.
– I wish we as Christians would fight and defend our faith and not let our heart be easily swayed in a different direction.
God forgive me when I fail and help me be faithful to you and your Word. May it truly be hidden in my heart so no one could steal it from me.
CHALLENGE:
Have a game plan today on how you will respond to someone whose words or actions challenge your faith walk. Will you give in or will you stand up for the Truth?
