Daily Bible Challenge: Day 632 Proverbs Chapter 4

“Get wisdom at any cost.” Those are powerful words from Proverbs Chapter 4. Wisdom, God's wisdom, gives us life. To get distracted is to turn to evil and wickedness which leads to death. I was speaking with a good friend of mine. He shared how he struggled with lust. He said he'll be driving on the street and he'll see a pretty girl and he “checks her out.” He asked me, “Is that lust?” I said, I don't know your heart but I once heard a person say, if you see a pretty woman on the street and look at her and keep going that's one thing, but to go around the block so you can see her again that's lust.

My friend responded, in all seriousness, “That's exactly what I do.” “In fact”, he said, “I've been known to pull in a gas station to get gas just because I saw a pretty woman there.”

This chapter puts a lot of focus on staying focused! It says to guard your heart. Don't let your focus turn to the right or left. Once you do, it's easy to get enticed into evil, any kind of evil.

That's why it's so important to have an accountability partner and be committed to the Body of Christ the church, and to God's word. It's too easy to get enticed into sin.

Do you have a good core of friends who can help you stay focused on God's Word? Or are your friends strictly those who entice you down the wrong path?
