Daily Bible Challenge: Day 618 Psalms Chapter 140

In this chapter the psalmist asks God to rescue him, protect him, and keep him safe because there are many evil doers who are devising evil and stirring up war.

With all that has been going on in this world: with politicians hating each other, and I mean hating each other. They devise evil and lies against each other. It seems both parties are guilty.

Then we see a police officer handle the situation with a lack of sense which results in the death of a man. From that comes protesters, which is okay, but results into riots and destruction of people and their properties. I mean there are rioters who destroy both black and white people and their businesses. We go from one evil to another. When does it stop? Honestly? Not until Jesus comes back. 2nd Timothy chapter 3 talks all about evil in the last days.

How will I respond to all this? With more evil and more hate? Honestly, I want to do something. I don't want to do nothing. I don't want to talk about how “I'm better than the others” because I'm not. What can I do?

It was suggested that I volunteer and work with the African Americans so I can better understand their thought process and their needs. I know the Erie City Mission focuses on the needs of every race including refugees. Perhaps that's a good starting point.

And while I'm at it, let me share more of my heart. I look at homosexuality as a moral issue and feel it violates God's laws and is therefore a sin. At the same time I don't hate the homosexual and have very often thought I would love to somehow connect with the homosexual community in a manner that shows them they are loved and valued without compromising my faith in hopes of sharing the truth and love of the Lord.

Jesus was a RADICAL and a REBEL because he loved sinners, including me.

In the Bible, there were many who wanted nothing to do with Jesus and persecuted him. So I (we) have to expect the same for ourselves if we're going to stand up and live the radical rebel Life of Christ. It won't matter how big your heart of Love Is, some people are just going to hate and devise evil against you.

I have struggled with these thoughts for quite some time. My prayer is that God would use me with his power and love amongst the homosexual community and I'm praying amongst the black community and beyond. I'm tired of being on the sidelines acting holy. I want to be an instrument of God's love to the world.
