Psalms chapter 131. Becoming a great leader.

In this psalm, King David puts emphasis on not being proud or haughty. This made me think of leadership.
A prideful and haughty leader spends a lot of time focusing on one's own greatness and in the process spends little time focusing on the greatness of others. As a result, it's hard for people to be drawn to such a leader. It's hard to support a leader who enjoys exalting oneself while putting the rest of the team members down. Who in the job force, or ministry, or a given task, enjoys being reminded of one's own flaws with limited or no encouragement.
A humble leader understands the value of having a successful business or Ministry or task. But in order for a mission to succeed, a good leader must have the ability to identify the team members individual gifts. And they need to praise each individual for their accomplishments.
Team members want to feel like they are a part of a team and that they are valued and are doing a good job.
If a humble leader is able to implement value and Worth to the team, then they are more apt to capture their respect. This is important because a good leader must also have the ability to correct, challenge, and discipline their team members, not so that they feel worthless, but so that they can improve and be a better and stronger asset for the mission at hand.
Psalms chapter 131 part 2. Being content.
I was also captured by King David putting emphasis on contentment. In our world today, and perhaps because of the sin nature within us, people let the lust of their eyes get trapped onto people or things. We see something and we feel we have to have it. We spend money we don't have in order to get the newest clothes, hunting equipment, toys, games, shoes, purses, etc. If we could learn to be content, we'd find ourselves better able to save money which is important since we live in an age where people are continually going deeper in debt. Don't get me wrong, fun things are okay to have, and nice clothes are okay to buy, but such purchases must be made in the balance of other responsibilities. Let me mention a couple:
1. Saving is important because one day we will retire and we'll need finances.
2. Saving is important in case of an unexpected emergency.
3. Giving to God (tithe) is important. We are called to support the church ministry and to give. Just a side note: It's funny, we spend a few hundred dollars sometimes thousands of dollars for something we think we need but when is the last time we sat down and said, “I'm going to save up a few hundred or thousand dollars that I can give to the church for this particular need!”
Hopefully you get my point. We can't put emphasis on just one area, the fun stuff, when we are trying to save money for our future or for the Lord. Learning to be content is a huge step toward being able to be a responsible and safe spender.
