Psalms Chapter 130. Real love, not the fake stuff.
In this chapter, the psalmist cries to the Lord for mercy and acknowledges that he is a sinner plus not really understanding why God would want anything to do with him. But the psalmist also recognizes that God is full of forgiveness and puts his hope in the Lord God because of his unfailing love and full redemption from sins.
I am so thankful that God really does love me. When I focus on my imperfections and my sin, it's difficult to imagine a God who could really love me despite my wayward ways. It's easy to feel inadequate. It's easy to feel unworthy.
But God's unfailing love goes beyond all my sins and imperfections and makes his forgiveness available. So I need to give him my full attention while putting all my hope in the Lord, Why? His Word says:
1. Because of His unfailing love.
2. Because of His forgiveness. It brings full redemption. This means we are completely saved from the penalty of sin which is death. We're completely saved from death. Our debt has been cleared completely. Everything that brings guilt and shame, OR anything that makes me feel unworthy or inadequate Is forever gone. God has cleared the way so we can become the best we can be for him. And the greatest privilege is found in verse 4: the privilege of humbly serving our Lord. So God I desire and accept your forgiveness because of your unfailing love for me. And I accept the privilege and opportunity to be one of your humble servants. Help me to be humble and help me to serve by loving and serving others with the same love and forgiveness you have shown me.
