Psalms chapter 128. Blessings.
If verses 1-3 were written as a math problem, it would look something like this:
Verse 1:
Man who fears God +
Is obedient to God =
Is Blessed from God.
Verse 2-3:
Blessings = Wife + Kids who bear fruit for the Lord.
Hey! Who wouldn't want that for their lives and their families. I want to be blessed by God, but I also want my family to be fruitful with their faith walk.
What does it really mean to fear God and be obedient? What does it really look like? Perhaps some of the ingredients would be:
1. A life totally sold out for the Lord, surrendered to God. James 4:7-8.
2. A life passionately striving for the righteousness of God. A life of Holiness. Matthew 6:33 and Isaiah 19:1-2.
3. It's making the Word of God a priority. One's life line. Something you can't do without. Joshua 1:5-8.
4. It's teaching your family what it means to have a relationship with Christ through teaching with your words and your life. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 Deuteronomy 11:19.
5. It's being diligent through prayer with your faith walk lest you be deceived and slowly walk from the Lord. It can happen to anyone. Deuteronomy 4:9.
Where am I doing well and where am I failing? What are your strengths and what are your weaknesses? Don't wait to be committed when the kids have grown and the marriage is suffering.  Let us be Leaders who lead and lead strong.
