Psalms Chapter 122. I can't wait to go to church!
Verse 1 is a verse I memorized a long time ago which says, “I rejoiced with those who said to me, Let us go to the house of the Lord.” Vs 4 says they gathered to praise the name of the Lord.
When the pandemic first hit, and church was told to close, we missed going to church. We listened to it online which wasn't the same as being at church. The first Sunday the church doors were opened, I remember thinking how nice and exciting it was to go and be with others. I rejoiced with those who said to me, let us go to the house of the Lord! Actually, I want that to be my heart every Sunday when the church doors are opened. I want to love and be excited, and rejoice every time the opportunity comes.
The chapter goes on to say how there was prayer in the city of Jerusalem.
I want Church fellowship and gathering not just be a chance to say, “I went to church today!” I want it to also be an opportunity to love those who attend. Build relationships and pray for the people. I want to pray for them and their needs and help meet their needs if it is within my capabilities.
Lord, help me rejoice every chance I get to corporately be with other believers, the Body of Christ. And God, lay on my heart the needs of our church and church body, so I can pray for them and reach out to them. In Jesus's name, amen!
