Psalms Chapter 95. Do you believe?
Sometimes I learn better or understand something better when I have a visual. This chapter is one of those chapters that I meditate on and visualize myself in the chapter. This chapter establishes:
1. Who God is.
2. What our response should be.
3. What our future outcome is.
Remember, have a visual!
1. Who is God? God is above all gods and he is the creator of all things. Therefore nothing is above him. He is a BIG God. Nahum 1:3 says the clouds of the air are like dust on God's feet. Cloud formations are huge and could be seen forever. But to God it's just a speck of dust on his feet. God is HUGE. God loves and cares for us like a shepherd with its sheep.
2. Our response!  Do we really believe who God is? Because how we answer this question will determine how we live our life for the one we believe in.
If we say yes, then do we say it with our mind or our hearts?
To believe with our minds is to have little or no impact on how we live our lives for the one we believe in.
But to say yes with our hearts results in great change in our attitudes, our thoughts, and our behaviors. If we really believed with our hearts, then God would see verse 1 and 2 in our hearts. Our hearts would sing with joy for the Lord. With praises to our God. Our Hearts would be filled with Thanksgiving. Verse 6 would also be seen. We would Bow and Kneel in worship before God. He would see great humility in our lives.
So when he speaks, listen! Stop the busyness of life and listen. God is trying to speak to our hearts everyday. We have to stop and humbly come before our God and hear what he's saying to us. If He's calling for us to change, then be obedient. Because with Obedience comes God's blessings and Glory. Don't harden your hearts in disobedience like the Israelites did, which resulted in not entering God's Promised Land.
Let me recap:
1. God is number one.
2. I do believe.
3. My life is changing (not as fast as I hoped and not without struggles).
4. I come humbly before God (because I recognize my imperfections and my need for him. I can't do this on my own).
5. May I daily listen to His voice (with obedience and not with a hard heart).
6. A hard heart desires what the world offers which is temporary pleasures.
Obedience to God results in eternal pleasure called Eternal Life (Heaven).
