Psalms chapter 94. Neglect is a sin!
This chapter expresses frustration toward the evil and wicked people and how destructive they are with human life. They kill the innocent and act as if God does not see or hear what they do.
It's almost easy to read by this chapter quickly because I'm not murdering the widows and orphans nor the Foreigners. And I don't take advantage of others with such evil actions.
But as I ponder on this, perhaps my evil is neglect. I may not be an active participant in doing evil but if I do nothing to stop or help those suffering, it is also a sin. It's the “quiet sin”. It's easiest to justify.
Jesus's command is not just DON'T DO EVIL, but also commands us to GO. We are to be proactive with our faith and GO AND MEET NEEDS Matthew 25:31-46. We are to GO AND DO GOOD Matthew 5. We are to GO AND LOVE PEOPLE John 13:34-35. We're to GO AND REACH THE LOST AND DISCIPLE them Matthew 28:16-20, Mark 16:14-18, Luke 24:44-49, John 20:19-23, Acts 1:4-8.
Lord, not only help me stay away from evil actions, but help me not neglect those around me. Help me be proactive and go where the needs are and please use me to touch lives physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
