Psalms Chapter 82. Religious or Transformed?
In this chapter the psalmist calls on God to destroy the wicked and their false gods. The psalmist calls on God to defend the needy: the week, the fatherless, the poor and the oppressed.
It's interesting because the psalmist calls on the Lord to defend the needy when in fact, God calls on us to defend the needy. James 1:27 says, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”
In the minds of many Christians, we are content to say we are good people or we go to church or we tithe. But God is looking for a transformation. He's looking for Christians to be active in their faith.  Their focus is on the needs of others, including those without parents or the widows. He's looking for those who are aware of the temptations of this world so that we aren't influenced by them.
2 questions:
1. When is the last time we stopped what we were doing for our self so that we could help a widow or someone without parents?
2. When it comes to not conforming to the pattern of this world, would people say you look just like the world or would they say you are different from the world?
