Psalm Chapter 75. Know your place.
In this world today we have laws and authorities, all of which we are to hold up with utmost respect. We are to obey our authorities versus constantly challenging their authority or ignoring them or acting as if we are better than them. A business or Ministry can run so much more smoothly if people respect and submit to their authorities. To not do so is to be a joy sucker. You become someone who sucks the joy out of the relationship. Suck the joy out of the ministry. You suck the joy out of the business. Your lack of obedience causes a burden and discourse.  Hebrews 13:17 says, “Obey your authorities for they keep watch over you as one who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy and not a burden.”
People have been fired for speaking disrespectfully about their boss. They have been a “negative Nancy” in the workforce. They justify their actions when in fact they are poison in the workforce or Ministry. We are better off being a light of Hope in the workplace and we can do this with a positive attitude and by encouraging others and knowing who our authorities are and knowing where our place is.
Just as we have individuals challenging their authorities on Earth so we find those who challenge God's authority. We all do it at one time or another. Sometimes it's obvious and sometimes it's not. The psalmist points out God's authority.
It's God who judges with equality and fairness. Who holds the world together. Who's above all people. Who brings destruction to evil doers and rewards the righteous.
With this being true, then what is our place? We are below God we are to exalt him and praise him and declare his wonderful deeds. And obey Him. We are to be humble before God and become a servant like Jesus who role modeled for us. Once we let pride or arrogance into our hearts, then we become a poison to those around us. We become less effective for the kingdom.
Being a humble servant is what God calls us to become. Help me, Jesus, to be a true humble servant.
