Psalms Chapter 70. Hurry up Lord!
This chapter starts off with David calling for God's help and uses the words, “Come quickly!”
The chapter ends with David saying to the Lord, “Come quickly!”
If there's something I've learned over the years is that God is a patient God.
2nd Peter 3:9 says that God is patient regarding his return to Earth. Because he wants everybody to be saved and to repent of sins. So he is patient because he hopes more people respond to his salvation.
Psalm 37:7 we are told to be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him. And while we are waiting we're not to be fretting and worrying over the stuff surrounding us.
We must remember, while God is waiting, unseen things are happening from the Lord. Things that benefit us and the kingdom of God. The benefits may be a better developed Christ attitude in our hearts. The benefits maybe a chance to be equipped better for serving the lord. It might be an opportunity to grow in areas of weakness. It might mean God's answer is coming but wants to teach us trust and faith in him.
God is patient so we are also called to be patient.
Some of my favorite verses dealing with patience:
Romans 12:12
“Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.”
Colossians 3:12
“Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,”
Romans 8:25
But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.”
So as we face trials and tribulations, let us patiently wait on the Lord so he can accomplish all that he wants to accomplish. Our prayers are often help me NOW without realizing God is actually helping us during the patiently waiting time. It just may not be the help that we're looking for but it benefits us and the kingdom more.
