Psalm Chapter 45. A wedding song.
I'm praying you experience the Lord in a new way today.
Chapter 45 is a wedding song with comments for both the groom and bride.
The Groom:
– It says he is the most excellent of men.
– His lips are anointed with grace.
– He is encouraged to be a great soldier or warrior.
– He has found favor with God because he loves righteousness and hates wickedness.
The Bride:
– She is encouraged to move on with her life with her new man. She should forget about the ties she has with her father and her people.
– She's encouraged to honor her King.
– She's told that people of wealth will respect her and find favor in her.
– Her sons will be princes throughout the land.
This wedding song is both encouraging and complementary. I wonder what would be said about me as the husband to my wife, Karin.
– I want my wife to be able to say I am the most excellent of men.
– Do I love her more than any other woman? Are my feelinngs towards other women like “hate” compared to my love for my wife?
– Do I treat her with such great respect so that she feels number one?
– Am I more apt to compliment her or tear her down, even with little comments?
– Am I perceived as a great warrior for Christ? If my wife is not my number 1 ministry then I have failed as a warrior for Christ. I can be a “great” warrior around others, but if I am failing in my love and ministry to my wife, I'm failing as a warrior for Jesus.
– May I truly love righteousness and hated wickedness!

Verse 16 stuck out to me today when I read the phrase: “in place of your fathers shall be your sons” and it made me think about the passage of time and just how short our time on earth can be. We need to use our time wisely as we raise up the next generation. While my desire is that my children would “walk in my footsteps” where I have made wise decisions and avoid the snares, pitfalls and mistakes that I have made along the way, but I realize that they each have their own decisions to make and their own lives to live. May we all choose to walk in a way that is pleasing to the Lord.
