Psalm Chapter 19. Our God is MAJESTIC!
The psalmist speaks of two things that gives evidence of his majesty:
1. GOD'S CREATION. God's creation is so detailed and majestic that creation itself supports the idea of a Creator versus “by chance”. Nothing so majestic and detailed happens “by chance”.
2. GOD'S WORDS AND LAWS. God's Words and Laws are worth living for. In fact they are worth dying for. Just like his creation, there's nothing like it. Words in this chapter describing God's Words and Laws are:
Perfect. Refreshing. Wise. Light. Firm. Righteous. Precious. Sweet. It warns us and it is to be feared for it reveals our sins and faults.
Because of how majestic God is, as demonstrated through his creation, and because God's Law and Words are so majestic we should take heed to what the rest of the chapter challenges us to do:
1. To be blameless in God's sight.
2. To let every word and thought that we have to be pleasing in God's sight.
As the psalmist points out, it's hard to recognize our own sins as faults. We focus more on the sins of others.
God forgive me of my sins while helping me become more aware of them so that I will be righteous and blameless in your sight.
