Job Chapter 37. Why do we question God?
In this chapter Elihu is still speaking and seems to highlight two points:
1. The Majesty of God is Great and mighty and so far above us and beyond us. We can't understand it.
2. Because God's majesty is so far beyond us, who are we to question God? Are we His equal?
Questioning God seems to denote the following:
1. We think we know more than God.
2. We don't trust God.
3. We think our ways are better than God's ways.
None of which of these are true. I am challenged to trust God and his ways more, versus trying to plead my case as if my ways are better. As if I myself am smarter and can see better what lies before me.
I just spoke with a friend in ministry who he and his wife have struggled for months while facing a dryness in ministry. Therefore having little or no funds available. He went into depression and was angry at God and wanted nothing to do with him in prayer and devotion because he felt God wasn't listening to him. Finally in total brokenness, he and his wife knelt before the Lord and they weeped and prayed saying God we need a miracle unless you want us to stop the ministry you've once called us to. As they said their Amen's, within an hour they had a call from a man in South Dakota who said he wanted my friend to come and minister to eight schools. Which enabled them to get out of debt. There's more to the story but my friend said to me, why did I question God? Why did I act like a baby? Why did I not trust him?
The point of the story is not to say just pray and God our puppet will quickly answer our prayers but rather:
1. Why do we question God?
2. Why do we not trust Him?
