The Israelites we're joined together as one in order to do the work of the Lord. They worked on rebuilding the altar and God's Temple despite the fear they had from surrounding enemies. Their joy was expressed in worship and the people could hear their Joy from far away.

1. The people came together as one. 1st Corinthians 1:10 is a great passage about being united together as one. When people come together they end up having the same vision working towards the same goals. So much work can be accomplished for the Lord when people come together. I think of all the different ministries that need done within the church for children, youth and adults. I think of the outreach the people do. The more people you have coming together the more effective a church can be. The churches are struggling because instead of getting 100% coming together for ministry, you get 20% of the people doing 80% of the work. This results in people burning out.

2. They did the work despite their fears.

The Israelites were afraid that their enemies would come and try to stop their efforts. What are our fears? What is keeping us from doing the work of the Lord? Some fear that if they get involved they won't have time for other things.

3. Joy was expressed for all God was doing.

I think of how pleased God would be if the whole church praised him for all he does. When people of the church come together, lives will be impacted for Jesus. There should be more celebrations and testimonies given for all God is doing within the church. We should be excited for what God it's doing.
