Judges chapter 20
Israeli joined forces in order to remove the evil that was amongst them in Gibeah. All the Benjamites had to do was hand over the evil men so the evil could be removed and many lives would not have to have been lost. However all the Benjamites instead came together to defend the city of Gibeah and the evil amongst them. As a result many men died amongst the innocent. But many men and cities and animals were destroyed amongst the enemy, the Benjamites.
It seems to be the same today. Our nation defends evil and protects immorality which is spreading like wildfire across our nation. The death of a Nation occurs when there is removal of morality, which we are doing. I truly believe it is only a short time before we face a disaster. But before we do, I believe many righteous and more people will face death. Some innocent people will lose their lives as they choose to live what is right.
I thought of second Timothy 3:12 that says, “In fact everyone who wants to live a Godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.”
If history repeats itself, as our nation faces increased moral decay, then eventually we will see more persecution and more destruction upon the righteous and eventually we could see our nation collapse in a disastrous manner as did Gibeah.
Am I willing to fight for what is right by being obedient to God's truth and staying faithful to the truth even if it means death? God help me and give me strength!

How sad that the Benjaminites would not listen to the voice of their brothers! They seemed to be more interested in trying to protect the criminals among them rather than allowing for there to be justice. Here again is what I think is an example of more doing what was right in their own eyes rather than what was really right. Over 65,000 men died instead of just those who were directly responsible for the death of the concubine in Gibeah.
I was thinking today about what we read in Romans 12:9-21.
“Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality. Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. Live in harmony with one another. Do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly. Never be wise in your own sight. Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
Choosing to hold onto sin rather than dealing with it is never a good idea. It appears to me that lots of people were overcome by evil in chapter 20. Many were killed. May we remember to overcome evil with good.
The ApologetiX song that I chose for today relates to 2 Timothy 3:12 that Pastor Blair shared. It’s called No One Likes You, a parody of No One Like You.
Here’s the link.

Wow Jim that Romans verse is absolutely beautiful. I love it and really want to have that on my heart and in my mind.
I can’t lie, these past two chapters have been very sad and depressing to read. First the concubine being raped and murdered, then her body being disassembled and sent to the Israelites, and now the thousands and thousands of deaths of both Israelites and Benjamites. Entire towns burned to the ground. Guilty and innocent lives taken. I agree Pastor Blair we are seeing this more and more in our world today. Whether it is senseless mass shootings, natural disasters like fires, hurricanes, or flooding, lives are being lost. Our focus is not where it should be in our society and we are fueling the wrong fires. Instead of passion for stronger marriages, life at conception, keeping God in our lives, our society is embracing broken homes, sexual immorality, and promoting a woman’s choice to kill her child. We are living in a heartbroken world!
A quote I read today said this, “If today was your last, would you be proud of how you lived it?”
And more importantly, would God be proud?
