Deuteronomy chapter 24.
Three times in this chapter Moses said to take care of the fatherless and widows. 3 times he mentioned about being kind to the needy and gave examples. 3 times he says to remember when you were in Egypt and all the difficulties you went through when in Egypt.
We all go through difficult times and praise the Lord when we are delivered from those difficult times, but woe to me if I quickly forget all the feelings and emotions I felt while going through those difficult times.
I remember Financial struggles. I remember those who took pity on me and reached out and helped me. I remember being bullied and picked on in school. I remember not liking myself. I remember feeling alone. I remember how I felt when someone came alongside me and encouraged me, loved me, helped me, complimented me.
We are surrounded by people struggling and hiding their pain and wearing masks. Shame on me if I forget my pains and focus on the success of my life and lose pity and compassion for those hurting. Shame on me if I don't stop and take the time to invest in those hurting. For those who need attention, love, encouragement, compliments, help, and assistance. We are especially to help the widow and those in single-parent homes. Shame on me if I feel I don't have time to help a person in need.
Lord help me to be sensitive every day to those around me and then respond. Show me today someone that I can help and take the time to invest in.

There are more laws to read about in chapter 24 and some of those laws had to do with helping to take care of others. Kindness, generosity, compassion and love should be seen in us who are followers of Jesus. I’m reminded again of what we read in Colossians 3:12-14. “Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.”
